Topics: Sweet Potato Planting, Which Do You Like?, Etiquette, Emotions
We’re excited to welcome everyone to our 2023 English classes at Wakakusa. Our year has already kicked off with numerous engaging activities!
To start, we embarked on an adventure of planting sweet potatoes. Our young learners got to experience firsthand the steps involved in planting these tubers and observing their growth. We anticipate a rewarding harvest of our delicious sweet potatoes in October.
Before the start of each lesson, we take a moment to delve into emotions. Jesse sensei and Fred sensei, our dedicated educators, introduce a fresh emotion each week. This not only aids our students in understanding and expressing these feelings but also facilitates their understanding of the corresponding English and Japanese terms.
Another core area we focus on early in the year is the importance of good manners. We use phrases like “Please” and “Thank you,” demonstrating their use to the students. This helps instill in them the habit of employing polite words and actions in their daily routines.
To wrap things up, we have a fun activity named “Which do you like?”. This offers our students an opportunity to talk about their likes and dislikes, covering a variety of topics such as colors, shapes, and activities.
Thank you for your interest in our work. We’re excitedly looking forward to a year filled with learning and fun with our students. We can’t wait to share more of our journey with you!
